What is GDPR?

GDPR is the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation. It will come into force on 25 May this year and has been introduced to give EU citizens more control over how their personal data is used.

From 25 May, rather than allowing each country to establish its own rules regarding personal data, GDPR will become law and every organisation across the globe which handles the personal data of EU citizens must comply.

Does it apply to you?

Does your business or organisation collect, store or use Personal Identifiable Information (PII) from EU citizens? If the answer is yes, GDPR will apply to you.

Make sure you’re compliant

There are several measures to put in place to ensure you are compliant. Ensuring your systems and processes are as secure as possible is one of them. Subscribing to one of CyberX’s online packages will demonstrate an awareness of the risk of a security breach and, as such, should be recognised by the GDPR’s security standards. Failure to comply could result in a fine of up to €20m or 4% of a company’s annual turnover.
